    National Walking Month

It's National Walking Month! Many people choose to go walking as a form of physical exercise but did you know it has some amazing benefits to our mental health?

In this blog post you can read why walking has proven benefits to our physical and mental health and learn about the Health Walks that we offer across the Black Country.

The month of May is National Walking Month. National Walking Month encourages people to walk more throughout May. As we go through May, the evening's get lighter and the weather *fingers crossed* gets better, it is a great time to go on walks! Even a short 10 minute walk increases our mental alertness, energy and mood.

This is a great article written by Mental Health Foundation which talks about how you can look after your mental health using exercise - Mental Health Foundation

Walking offers the physical benefits of exercise while also boosting your emotional well-being.

Here are a few proven benefits of walking:

    • Improved sleep
    • Better endurance
    • Stress relief
    • Improvement in mood
    • Increased energy and stamina
    • Reduced tiredness that can increase mental alertness

You can invite friends to join you, physical exercise combined with socialising and interacting with others can improve negative moods and improve self-esteem.
