Charlottes Stress Relief Toolkit - Stress Awareness Month

    4

At The Recovery College, we offer a variety of courses where we discuss stress and how we can lower our stress levels and practice self care.

We're asking the team what they keep in their stress relief toolkit to support them when they start to feel stressed or overwhelmed.

Here's Charlotte - one of our lead facilitators toolkit!

One of the main things in my stress toolkit is getting outside for a walk, where possible I will go to walk in a green space, turn off my music and really try to focus on where I am walking; the plants I can see around me and the sounds of birds that I can hear etc.

Other things in my stress toolkit are:

    • 1.Spending time in the garden, attempting to grow some fruit and vegetables
    • 2.Reading a good book that I can get lost in
    • 3.Listening to one of my favourite podcasts
    • 4.Having a bath
    • 5.Doing something creative like crochet or embroidery

I also sometimes find it helpful to write out the things I am stressing over, and create myself a bit of an action plan. What things can I get done/ solve easily? What things can wait? Can I ask someone for some extra support? Getting it out of my head onto paper can help me to think more clearly and spot solutions!

What's in your stress relief toolkit? Have a think over the next few days and maybe share with us!
