A Day in the Life Of...Ed Wakefield

At the Recovery College our team has expanded rapidly over 2023. It is a really exciting time at the College with lots of new projects, initiatives and bases growing. And the marketing team is no exception, so without further ado here's Ed!

    1) What is your job role and what subjects do you cover?

I am Digital Officer at the Recovery college - what this involves is a lot of marketing, getting our name out there and advertising all the incredible courses that we run. I'm responsible for social media presence, the RC website including the blog, Hub and our newsletters (co created with the dream team of Stevie and Charlotte!), Digital Inclusion Project and the upcoming introduction of Moodle. I have recently partaken in Basic Art workshops for the Spring Term, sadly they have wrapped up for now. All I can say is - WOW. Our students have such talents, it was incredible to see them all flourish.

    2) Name something you love about working at the Recovery College.

I still feel like a complete newbie, as I only started working for the College in December. What struck me then, as it continues to do now - is the sense of community, both within the staff team and student groups. Everyone is so supportive, it is something you feel straight away. And that feeling lasts from the moment I jump in the car to do some filming or photography, attend inductions or job centre visits to when I roll up at home to polish up some designs on Canva.

No two days are ever the same. I can be out filming health walks one day, networking with community organisations via Zoom the next. It's amazing.

    3) What's next?

As many of the team have picked up on already, we are expanding into several bases around the Black Country. I can't wait to show these off once we have settled in properly. I will be doing heaps of filming, so watch out for our progress via social media and this blog.

Beyond that I will be working hard to increase visual presence for all our courses on the website and socials to give prospective students a better idea of what we do and where we do it. It is such an exciting time here, and we want everyone to be a part of it. Jump in.

    Thanks Ed
