    Shrove Tuesday

    Shrove-Tuesday

Shrove Tuesday also known as Pancake Day is marked on a different day each year to mark the start of the Christian festival of Lent. Shrove Tuesday is the beginning of the 40 days of Lent leading up to Easter.

But why do we eat pancakes?

The tradition of Pancake Day comes from families using up all their ingredients in their cupboard before Lent starts the following day. Eggs, flour and milk used to be common things that people decided to give up for the period of Lent nowadays people are more likely to give up chocolate or sweets!

For Christians the festival of Lent is about sacrifice and fasting.

Whether you have sweet or savoury pancakes today, We hope you enjoy!
