February is LGBT+ History Month.
The theme for 2025 is Activism and Social Change, one approach to activism is through sharing stories.
At The Recovery College, we have a great Recover Together LGBTQ+ group as part of our connecting pathway where we meet and learn about things close to the hearts of the LGBTQ+ community.
Today's post is a story from Michael a student in our LGBTQ+ group.
"In March 2014 was a day in history as we could get married I was lucky enough to be working in a night club in London. At 12 o'clock we celebrated it on stage! We was sponsored by Ben and Jerry's ice cream who made a ice cream Flavour called Apple-y Ever After. We also married a couple on stage! It was the 1st time we all looked at each other and realised its OK to be gay."
Thank you so much Michael for sharing this with us.
What an amazing way to celebrate same sex marriage being legalized in the United Kingdom!
