A message from our Principal Kerry Wilkes for LGBT+ History Month

    LGBT-History-Month-3

Its LGBT+ History Month, this year's theme is Celebrating Activism and Social Change.

Below we have a message from The Recovery College Principal, Kerry Wilkes:

This year's theme of celebrating activism and social change calls for us to think about how we truly create an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued respected and empowered to succeed. The theme calls for employers to reflect on their role and how they make people feel safe enough to bring their whole selves to work, however as the lead for the Recovery College I not only reflect on this for the staff team but for everyone who may use or visit the recovery college.

As a service we pride ourselves on creating an environment that celebrates everyone's uniqueness, no matter whether you are joining us a volunteer, staff member, student or visitor. Inclusivity and valuing difference is something that is close to my heart and influences my thinking and actions both professionally and personally.

At the Recovery College our inclusivity statement hopefully says it all and really does define what we want everyone to experience in their time at the Recovery College.

Inclusivity is both at the heart and forefront of everything we do at the Recovery College. We welcome everyone with kindness and compassion. We value you for your uniqueness, individuality and encourage you to be you. You are not defined by any label but celebrated and empowered to be true to who you are.

There is only one you. Embrace, accept and be heard.

If ever this isn't the case or we could still do better, please do reach out to us and be the person to lead that positive change, we are always listening and learning with the aim of being the best we can be.
