    World Sight Day

    WSD-Poster

World Sight Day is a global sight awareness event that is held on the second Thursday of October every year, designed to focus on sight, vision impairment, blindness and the importance of good eye care. World Sight Day serves as a reminder of the need for regular eye examinations, early detection and treatment of eye conditions, and access to eye care for all.

Research shows that reducing screen time and spending time outside protects eyes from developing short-sightedness. It is important to take regular breaks during activities such as reading or using digital devices, and wear eye protection when using tools and chemicals that could damage the eyes.

If you're eligible, you can have a free NHS eye test, and even qualify for a free optical voucher for a new pair of glasses or contact lenses at different opticians such as Specsavers and vision express. We encourage you to head to your local opticians and enquire about an eye test or head to this website: https://www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/opticians/free-nhs-eye-tests-and-optical-vouchers/
