It's been a great month at The Recovery College, full of Open Days, Celebrations, Co-Production and End of Term Reviews.
This week the Recovery College Staff team met for a Spring Away Day. We discussed strategy, directions and priorities for the entire team. We also got to build some award worthy structures out of straws and LEGO! It was an amazing day and we came away refocused and ready for our Summer term. Watch this space - great things are coming!
It was great to celebrate YOU our students at our End of Term Spring Celebration. We had some awesome musical performances where some were moved to tears. We listened to some fantastic poetry and writing and saw lots of great pieces of work. It is amazing to see the progress you make.
This month has been jampacked for our Facilitator team as they contact each student for their end of term review. This is a great opportunity for you to reflect on the previous term and your SMART goals that were set. During the college break we encourage you to take time to reflect on your goals and if you have achieved them, if not what steps can you take to get closer to your goal.
It is enrolment week from Tuesday 6th May 9:00am - Friday 9th May at 3:00pm - please email your course choices to the college with your name. Email:
If you would like to attend a course for the first time get in touch via our email so that you can enrol as a student.
Some of our Facilitator team also attended ASIST Training - The course trains participants to reduce the immediate risk of a suicide and increase the support for a person at risk. The workshop helps participants recognise what a person at risk may need from others in order to keep safe and get help. Neil said: "Sometimes broaching the subject of self-harm and suicide can feel a little unsettling. Undertaking the two day ASIST training has increased by confidence in this area and reinforced the importance of active listening when a person presents in crisis."
Across each of our bases in Sandwell, Dudley, Wolverhampton and Walsall we hosted 4 Open Days where prospective students and professionals could attend and learn more about the college. Thank you to all who attended across the Black Country.
Our Health Walks and Recover Together sessions continue through our Term Break and it has been lovely to enjoy our walks in the sunshine. If you would like to attend one of our health walks please get in touch!
