In this blog post our RC Hub Highlights series continues. Across the Black Country there are many community groups and activities that anyone can access.. if they know about them. On our RC Hub we have a section highlighting these groups and we are going to dive into them today. Let's look at the 'Accessing Social Activities in My Community' Tab! 

Let's Recap, What is the RC Hub?

The RC Hub is a mental health, recovery, health and wellbeing resource library, for people living in the Black Country. It is ever-growing with new activities, leaflets, videos and other tools to help you.

You can access all of our resources for free, download and save for later! Through this series we are shining a light on the amazing resources you can access on the Hub to help you on your recovery journey.

At The Recovery College, We use the recovery model CHIME, The C in the acronym is for Connection. Connecting with friends, family, services or community groups is an important part of Recovery. We encourage all students to form connections in their community.

We have just created a new tab within the Social Activities Section entitled - Community Spaces.

We will be adding to this tab, it will contain Community Centres across the Black Country with Cafes, Connecting Groups and more!

If you are looking for a sports/exercise group - Agewell runs a number of weekly exercise sessions for the over 60s and less able of all ages across the Sandwell borough. The group is called 'Community Exercise Programme' Learn more here - Community Exercise Agewell

If you are a keen walker - Black Country Ramblers Young Walkers could be the group for you. They walk a range of miles at different group events, all you need to do is register for the group. Black Country Ramblers Young Walkers.

 If this group is not suitable for you, they have over 500 UK wide walking groups for a variety of abilities. Just search your location and a list will pop up of all your local walking groups. Click here for more information - Search for a Walking Group 

Willenhall CHART centre offer a variety of activities for a variety of age groups, Cinema Afternoons, Parent & Toddler Group, Regular Coffee Mornings, Yoga and more - Willenhall CHART Community Centre

You can find many different community groups in our 'Accessing Social Activities in My Community' Tab. Set some time aside to explore this section of our hub. We hope you find something that interests you and that you can visit one of these groups.

The Recovery College is an educational learning environment for people who have an interest in, or personal difficulties with, mental health.

All of our sessions are created with people who have lived experience of challenges with their own mental health along with carers and healthcare professionals.

You do not need any formal qualifications or experience to attend the college. All of our courses are free of charge and open to anyone, aged 18 and over.
