This exercise can help us to come back to this moment by initially focusing on the breath. It’s not necessarily used to prevent the mind from wandering but to become more intimate with its patterns. It is specifically helpful in allowing us to see the connection among thoughts, feelings, and body sensations, and behaviour. It also helps us to accept the times when our minds have wandered and to gently reconnect with our breathing.
