World Mental Health Day: Myths vs Facts

For the second instalment of our World Mental Health Day campaign we are considering Myths Vs Facts around mental health.

Myth 1: You only have to take care of your mental health if you have a mental health condition.

Fact: This isn't true! Everyone can benefit from actively supporting their mental and physical well-being through healthy habits. This could be through eating well, exercise and practising mindfulness, and taking time for some self care.

Myth 2: Mental Health Conditions are a Sign of Weakness.

Fact:
Mental health conditions aren't a sign of weakness or lack of willpower—they can affect anyone. Seeking help takes strength and courage!

Myth 3: Social media is bad for your mental health.

Fact:
Communication with peers can boost mental health, but constant comparison and media exposure can harm it. Approach with care!

Myth 4: Mental health issues are permanent.

Fact:
A diagnosis isn't a life sentence—many people recover, fully or partially Many people with mental health challenges have full, happy and successful lives outside of their condition.
