Commissioning of Community Sector Training Courses Pilot Project: Second Round

The Recovery College for the Black Country is really excited to be able to inform you that "The Commissioning of Community Sector Training Courses Pilot Project" will be continuing and launching a second round!

The Recovery College has been allocated a total of approximately £100K to continue to commission small to large community organisations to deliver a range of life improvement, recovery and wellbeing courses/learning across the Black Country.

Our first, pilot phase of the project was really successful and we would like to truly thank all of our partners involved in the pilot for supporting the Recovery College in realising our dream and for ensuring the project objectives and outcomes were achieved.

Our existing partners will continue to deliver their courses as part of round two, however we would like to develop the project further and wider, commissioning and welcoming more organisations into the project.

The project aim and objectives continue to be, to provide much needed learning and knowledge to individuals experiencing health inequalities in our most underserved and deprived Black Country areas, and where barriers to accessing mental health services are prevalent.

The Recovery College would like to commission an additional two/three organisations from each of the Black Country areas, to deliver their course/s. The course/s can be delivered in your community venue, at the Recovery College Campus or digitally.

Additional project aims and objectives include:

  • Support the sustainability of our community organisations
  • Bring much needed learning to individuals in particular those living in the Core 20/most deprived Black Country areas
  • Support the improvement of Health Inequalities and help people to live the best life
  • Delivering and evidencing health inequality/health/life improvement multi-outcomes alongside course/learning delivery
  • Partnership working
  • Supporting the growth, sustainability and improvement of partner organization's where possible and evidencing this
  • Supporting partner organization's to improve the life, improve the mental health/health and enable access opportunities of the individuals they serve and support
  • Support the development of the Recovery College Inclusion Strategy
  • To test the feasibility of the Recovery College Community Campus/Train the Trainer/Partnership Delivery project
  • Support the request for future funding to continue the project on an on-going basis and/or develop other similar commissioning projects
  • The Recovery College would love to hear from community organisations that have already developed and delivered a successful training course, that has been coproduced and/or consulted on during its development, that has a clear life improvement, recovery and/or wellbeing focus, learning outcomes and the organisation is able to deliver the course/s between the period of October 2024 and the end of July 2025.

If you were not shortlisted in the first round, please don't let that put you off! J

We would also love to hear your opinions, thoughts and experiences on the learning and knowledge needs in your community and/or the areas you serve and deliver in, in addition to understanding the full extent of the previously developed and coproduced community organisation created courses and training programmes that either delivery has been suspended or adjourned owing to the withdrawal of funding.

    What next….
