Last week we had our first blended End of Term Celebration for our students!
There was a mixture of students attending in-person at Quayside House in Sandwell and lots of students joining us online. It was a great morning filled with musical performances, poetry and our epic Recovery College Quiz Rounds.
Recovery College Principal Kerry Wilkes opened the celebration welcoming our students and guests, sharing successes from our Summer Term, and exploring the theme for the day of Happiness Happens. We also shared fond farewells to students, volunteers and staff who are embarking on new chapters.
Each student took part in an activity titled What Brings you Joy. Each student added wrote their response down on a smiley face and we put them together to create an amazing art piece! (Pictured below)
Emma from Black Country Healthcare Spiritual Care Team came to our event and shared a Moment of Mindfulness which is always a treat!
Our Learning Support Team gave an insight to our short workshops, sharing feedback from students that have attended and a short Goal Setting taster.
Our Second Activity was centred around Gratitude and reflecting on what we had learnt during the Summer Term. Each individual wrote this down on a leaf, this was then added to the art piece from earlier on.
Finally we enjoyed 3 Quiz Rounds, based on Black Country Music Legends and Happiness Happens.
We would like to say congratulations to our students for all their hard work this term. As we approach our Autumn Term remember the things that bring you joy, the skills and strategies you have learned. Carry them with you as you move forwards in your recovery.
