Volunteers' Week is an annual UK-wide campaign held from the first Monday in June to celebrate and recognise the contributions of volunteers.
Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (BCHFT) has a thriving Volunteer Programme and the Recovery College are passionate about Volunteering and how it can support those on their mental health recovery journey.
On Monday 56 Volunteers from across BCHFT met for a celebration. "The event was a powerful reminder of the dedication, kindness and community spirit that our volunteers bring to the Trust, and of the exciting future ahead for volunteering across the Black Country." You can read more about the Volunteer event here - https://www.blackcountryhealthcare.nhs.uk/news-events-1/latest-news/trust-marks-start-volunteers-week-2026-celebrating-impact-across-black-country
Along with Principal Kerry and Deputy Principal Liane it was great to see two of our volunteers Alex and Alicia attend the event. Alex has spent time with our Marketing Team creating our Newsletter and reviewing our Website and Alicia began her journey as a student and is now volunteering with our Facilitator Team. This term she is delivering Poetry, Creative Writing and Recover Together. Alicia shared a beautiful poem about what Volunteering means to her. We have attached the poem below.
Happy Volunteering Week to all Volunteers!
