November is recognised as Men's Health Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness and promoting conversations around men's physical and mental well-being. One of the leading charities for this cause, Movember, encourages men to grow beards and moustaches throughout the month to spark discussions and support related health issues.  Follow this link to read from the Official Movember Website: https://uk.movember.com/

Movember officially launched in the UK in 2007 The annual event sees men – or 'mo bros' – grow and groom moustaches throughout the month to raise funds and awareness for men's health issues, including testicular cancer, prostate cancer and mental health awareness.

Movember features two popular fundraisers that anyone can join. The original idea, simply called "Grow a Moustache," encourages participants to start the month clean-shaven and grow a moustache throughout November. The other popular fundraiser, "Move for Movember," focuses on physical activity. Participants commit to running or walking 60 km over the month to raise awareness for mental health. Movember encourages social connection and offer the option to host a fundraising event, This can be anything. It could be a party in a venue, dinner with friends or an outdoor gathering. You don't need to donate but you can spark the conversation with your guests about Movember and how you are doing physically and mentally.

Last year, Movember 2023 raised an impressive $128 million globally, reinforcing the importance and power of collective action for men's health.

At The Recovery College, we offer a variety of sessions to support mental health and wellbeing.  Each term we have a Men's Wellbeing Course, this covers a variety of topics we look at roles of men, social media perspectives, emotional and physical wellness, and support. This course is open to all men, trans men and non-binary people who identify more on the masculine end. We are providing a safe space and a listening ear to share how we really feel about our mental health and what affects it. No judgements, just time.

Our Men's Wellbeing course has been co-produced with students, staff, lived experience experts to create a course that is suitable for everyone.
