We're sharing this event and initiative in support of Sandwell Council and Black Country Women's Aid to stand against violence towards women and girls.

As part of the Sandwell Stands campaign, Sandwell Council are hosting community events in each of Sandwell's six towns during 16 Days of Action - you're welcome to attend any of these events.

There will be events across Rowley Regis, Wednesbury, Tipton, Oldbury, West Bromwich and Smethwick. You can find more information on these events here: Sandwell Stands - community events | Sandwell Council

On Monday 8th December there will be a special event called Reclaim the Night Walk - This will be a peaceful, family-friendly, stewarded walk, mainly on pavements and well-lit streets in Oldbury.

Together, residents, partners and Sandwell Council staff will walk in solidarity to:

  • Say no to violence, harassment and abuse
  • Reclaim our streets and public spaces
  • Show support for survivors and those currently experiencing abuse
  • Celebrate the strength and solidarity of our communities
  • This is a peaceful, family-friendly, stewarded walk.

The walk event is free and open to everyone who lives, works or studies in Sandwell, the Council ask that you register your attendance here: Registration for Walk to keep everyone safe and know the number of attendees.

What to bring

  • Weather-appropriate clothing and comfortable footwear
  • A torch, phone light or glow stick if you have one
  • Something orange or a white ribbon to show your support (optional)
