This month there are many events to celebrate and reflect on Black History Month.
"The Black History Month Conference 2025 will be one of the major highlights of this year's programme in the North West. Taking place on Tuesday 21 October at the historic Martin Luther King House in Manchester, this one-day gathering invites communities, professionals, educators, students and families to come together under the national theme: Standing Firm in Power and Pride.
This theme is both a celebration and a challenge. It calls on us to look at the resilience and brilliance of Black communities in Britain while also facing up to the barriers that still exist. To stand firm is to refuse to be moved in the face of adversity; to do so with pride is to affirm identity, heritage and achievement. The conference aims to bring those ideas to life through performance, testimony and courageous conversation."

Birmingham-based artist Abraham Babajide Cole opens his latest exhibition, Bound by Roots, Divided by Paths, at Dudley Library this October, marking the start of Black History Month 2025.
The exhibition explores migration, memory, and identity through painting, drawing, and clay-based works.
Opening Night: Wednesday 1st October, 6pm
Venue: Dudley Library, Black Country (Greater Birmingham)
The Exhibition runs from 1st to 31st of October.

The Recovery College is an educational learning environment for people who have an interest in, or personal difficulties with, mental health.
All of our sessions are created with people who have lived experience of challenges with their own mental health along with carers and healthcare professionals.
You do not need any formal qualifications or experience to attend the college. All of our courses are free of charge and open to anyone, aged 18 and over.
