A Day in the Life Of...Kerry Wilkes

Here at the Recovery College we really thought it was time to put names to faces so that you can see who we are, what we do and what drives us in our work. To that end, our marketing team has approached several members of staff including principals, facilitators, learning support assistants, admin and marketing too, of course!

Today we are kicking things off with Kerry Wilkes, the Recovery College Principal. We asked Kerry a few questions. Let's see what she had to say:

    1) What is your job role and what subjects do you cover?

I am the Principal/ Operational manager of the Recovery College. I oversee and co-ordinate all aspects of service development delivery and evaluation, along with recruitment, training and induction of new staff and volunteers. Part of my role is working with the wider trust to ensure the Recovery College operates in line with the Trusts vision, values, policies and has a clear interface with other services, enabling people who access services to have clear pathways to the Recovery College. Additionally working as part of Transformation workgroups to ensure the expansion of the Recovery College across the Black country and build networks linking the Recovery College to local communities. I am a MHFAider trainer and deliver training to as part of the Trusts MHFAider unit to both trust staff and communities as well as providing the half day training to Recovery College Students.

    2) Name something you love about working at the Recovery College.

I love providing a service that makes a difference to people's lives and helps people have hope and optimism for the future. I love seeing our students grow in confidence and have opportunities opened up for them, helping people build lives that have meaning and purpose. I love seeing the talent that is awakened and the passion our students, volunteers and staff have for sharing this and inspiring others.

    3)  What's next for the college?

I'm excited to see the opening of our bases across the Black Country and the increase in face to face activities and the welcoming of many new students.

    Thanks Kerry!
