Each term the Spiritual Care Team join forces with the Recovery College to take students and staff on a visit to a local Faith & Belief Community. This is a great way to learn more about the different beliefs and perspectives that shape the Black Country and also see in action all the great things that Faith Communities are doing in the local community as well being a centre for worship and gathering.

Last Tuesday a group from The Recovery College and BCHFT Spiritual Care Team spent time at the Quaker Meeting House in Stourbridge.

Here are some thoughts from members of the team who attended the visit.

"We had a lovely visit to the Quakers in Stourbridge on Tuesday. Very welcoming and fascinating to hear more of the history of the Quakers and the different things Quakers are involved with nowadays in terms of campaigns for justice and peace and inclusion. They are also rewilding their garden and it's just beautiful. A real haven." - Emma, Spiritual Care Team Lead.

"Meeting with the Stourbridge Quakers was an interesting and enriching experience. Students and staff got taught so much about their faith and tradition, from its historical roots up until today, and took part in a great in-depth discussion with our hosts, who were open, friendly and welcoming. We also had the opportunity to experience their practice of sitting in silence in their beautiful meeting hall, in one of the oldest buildings in Stourbridge (built in 1689). This was a peaceful and powerful experience. Many thanks to the members of the society for their wonderful welcome!" - Luke, Learning Support Assistant

"During my visit to the Quaker house, I was struck by the calm, welcoming atmosphere and the simplicity of the space. The experience offered a peaceful environment for quiet reflection and helped me understand the Quaker focus on inner stillness, equality and community." - Ravi, Facilitator
