It could be as simple as a phone call, a cup of tea or supporting them to get out and about these simple acts of kindness can boost emotional well-being and self-esteem. Primarily working in the Walsall area, volunteers are expected to commit to a minimum of 2 hours a week. If you can speak BSL or another language, that's a bonus!

The Social Prescribing service provides a non-medical approach to supporting adults in Wolverhampton to improve their health and wellbeing. Their aim is to link vulnerable people in Wolverhampton with activities and support in their local communities which might help them to feel better and more connected to reduce feelings of isolation, loneliness, and depression.

The aim of the LINK Volunteer role is to support the delivery of the Social Prescribing service in a variety of ways. Volunteers will be supported by a community Link Worker who will provide guidance to volunteers in being able to provide beneficial support and advise to those accessing the service.

This is an excellent role for volunteers who wish to support others in their community and reduce loneliness and social isolation, while providing a range of supportive opportunities and experiences for volunteers within a health and social care setting. 

The scheme is built on a digital platform and links volunteers to local live tasks via a smart phone app. This allows volunteers to offer help at a time which suits them.

As a Shout Volunteer, you will take text conversations with children, young people and adults who are struggling to cope.

You will be supported by Clinical Supervisors as you work to take someone in distress to a calmer moment, empowering them to take their next steps towards feeling better. You'll also have everything you need to signpost texters to ongoing support services. 

You'll learn new skills that you can use in all walks of life and receive ongoing support from dedicated Coaches.

Our volunteers carry out a huge range of tasks but it doesn't have to be outdoors! You could find yourself making good use of your organisational, IT, administrative or financial skills too.

Each Wildlife Trust has a large number of both regular and casual volunteers, amounting to a total of more than 32,500 volunteers across the UK.

Many of our members are dependent on volunteers for their survival and development, as they often only have a few, if any, paid staff. Groups are often started by a group of volunteers from the local community and continue to encourage volunteers to take part at all levels of their organisation. Volunteers may be asked to:

• Look after livestock and crops
• Support other users with, for example, special needs to become involved with the farm or garden
• Help run community enterprises like cafes and shops
• Get involved in afterschool clubs, projects and playwork
• Carry out general maintenance and construction work
• Help with administration and fundraising
• And, of course, as members of their management committees to be responsible for their overall management and sustainability.
